Thousands of couples and individuals in Australia are waiting for sperm and egg donations to help them grow their families, including those experiencing infertility, single women seeking motherhood by choice, as well as many in the LGBTQ+ community who require donor sperm or eggs to have a family.

A ground-breaking campaign, Life. Pass it On. has been launched by Virtus Health, a leader in the field of assisted reproduction, across their four fertility brands; IVFAustralia, Melbourne IVF, Queensland Fertility Group and TasIVF. Everyday people have eggs and sperm which could literally change someone’s life, by gifting them to others to help them create a family.

If you are a parent, think about the joy that your family brings you – your child laughing on a swing, devouring an ice block. Priceless memories that many of us crave- once we have the biological materials and IVF expertise to help.

So who becomes a donor? Egg and sperm donors’ have a genuine need to care and help others.

Oftentimes, they have witnessed someone in their life struggling with fertility issues or know someone who requires donor eggs or sperm to help them achieve parenthood.

One sperm donor, a sales manager in Melbourne donated because, “I’ve seen the joy that children can bring to families, so I want to make that happen for three other LGBTQ+ families.”

The bottom-line: donors are everyday people who come forward simply to help others experience parenthood.

It really is an incredible thing for people to do, since in Australia donors cannot be paid for donating eggs or sperm, and the process often includes taking the time to attend several appointments.

Are you willing to pass it on? Find out more about the process by visiting ivf.com.au.
