Lee and his husband Antonio live in Auckland. They started their journey into surrogacy when Lee was 36 and Antonino 39. Their son Rocco was born via surrogacy in Mexico City, Mexico on 8 September 2020 amidst the Covid pandemic.
 The process took roughly 3 years from start to finish, and a further 6 months in Mexico to bring Rocco  home . Happily back in Auckland in March 2021, Rocco is attending daycare, getting ready to walk, and generally keeping his dads very busy.
