Dr. Michaela Stockey-Bridge’s research explores family formation and new reproductive technologies. Michaela specifically looks at how biomedicine and law shape experiences of family life, family formation, motherhood and fatherhood. She has a particular focus on surrogacy. Her PhD fieldwork looked at the Australia-India surrogacy relationship. She writes the popular blog https://researchingcommercialsurrogacy.wordpress.com/ and is a lead researcher in a major government funded study Regulating Relations – Forming Families Inside and Outside of the Reach of the Law. She will present core findings from this study of Australians using offshore surrogacy.
