UK couple Natalia and her husband Cyrus’ surrogacy journey began overwhelmingly, with so many moving pieces to the puzzle (different agencies, different steps, different states, different time zones) it seemed hard to picture the end result. However, the actual journey was seamless and enjoyable. They worked with Center for Surrogate Parenting in California and everyone on their team from egg donor agency to fertility clinic; legal team, to surrogacy agency were hugely professional and supportive, holding their hands to become a family at all times. Natalie & Cyrus have not only an amazing and healthy daughter but a best friend in their surrogate and really close friendships with all their team. They are now starting the process on baby number two with the same teams and surrogate, Kayla.
Three Australian jurisdictions – NSW, ACT & Queensland – have laws criminalising overseas surrogacy. However like the long outdated provisions criminalising abortion in NSW, these are laws which have never been prosecuted.
