Hannah Romanin

Mum via traditional surrogacy

Hannah has a genetic condition – Masaic Turner Syndrome which impacted her uterus and ovaries, meaning a requirement for donor eggs. She in 2020 she tried Donor Egg IVF on the Gold Coast with imported eggs. However with her endometrial lining not thickening up sufficiently, transfers were cancelled or failed. So she and her partner realised surrogacy would be necessary. So, hearing that Australia was too hard, they turned to Canada, where an egg donor agency found them a new donor and embryos were made at great expense. However their Canadian surrogacy agency proved to be something of a disaster, presenting unscreened, inappropriate surrogaates. A match never ensued. Then a friend suggested they post in the Australian Surrogacy Community. It was here they met Anna, who suggested they try home insemination, with her eggs and womb. This led to the birth of Amelia in February this year. Hannah will share much more about the ups and downs of their journey
