Oscar is part of a gay couple in their late 30s who had considered surrogacy when they initially wanted to start a family 9 years ago. At that point in time they adopted an older child within the foster care system, but knew they wanted to expand their family. Oscar started seriously exploring surrogacy summer of 2021, had initial conversations in September 2021, and in May 2022 had flown to Mexico for a semen deposit. Oscar had identified an egg donor summer 2022, but during the process she decided to not go forward with donation. While a set-back they went into the process without a desire to rush anything. They identified a new egg donor and also quickly matched with a surrogate. By the end of November 2022 had their 1st and only embryo transfer. Their son was born in August 2023.
